2011 Contest Winners


Subito Press is proud to annouce the winners of its 2011 competition! Congratulations to Marcus Pactor and Melanie Hubbard!

The 2011 Fiction winner (chosen by Elisabeth Sheffield) is The Archived Steve by Marcus Pactor.

Marcus PactorMarcus Pactor has lived and cooked across the southeast. His stories have appeared in Fourteen Hills, Conte, and elsewhere. He received his MFA from Texas State University. He currently teaches at the University of North Florida.



The 2011 Poetry winner (chosen by Julie Carr) is We Have with Us Your Sky by Melanie Hubbard.

Melanie HubbardMelanie Hubbard lives in a small town on the west coast of Florida with her family. She received a PhD in literature from Columbia University; she also received a National Endowment for the Humanities research fellowship to do a scholarly book, now being revised, on Emily Dickinson. She has taught at New College of Florida, Eckerd College, and the University of Tampa. Poems, reviews, scholarly articles, and personal essays have appeared in a variety of periodicals. A chapbook, Gilbi Winco Swags, came out with Cannibal Books in 2008.
